3 Out Of The Box Ideas To Build Success In Your Career

Each and every day of our lives is a constant battle to make enough to survive on. Bills have to get paid, children have to get fed, and our homes and way of life have to be maintained. Even when these needs seem minimal to most, they are usually quite a large task to the one trying to maintain order.

Most of us are constantly looking for new ways to improve on the situation. Below are a few proven ways of handling the situation that you may not have heard of before, much less considered.

Use Nature To Become More Driven

One of the major details of life is something that most people feel uncomfortable even mentioning. Our own personal cravings. Whether they be instinctual or a unique personality trait, they are part of us. Instinctually, such cravings might be the need to eat, sleep, or procreate. An example of something that is more personality driven might be your taste in music, anxiety issues, or being a creature of habit. Sometimes, these things can be more of a hindrance in life than a help.

If you have a situation like this, and most of us do, use it to further your career. How? There is an old story of a scientist named Ivan Pavlov. He eventually trained his dogs to salivate at the sound of a bell instead of the sight of food. The same principle works here. If you have a craving that is pulling you down, train yourself to attach it to a practice that will further your career.

Train Yourself To Be More Creative

Many people concentrate on details of the job like making conversation at the water cooler, being flexible enough to work extra hours, or schmoozing the boss by taking him out for dinner. However, the best way to make a tree grow big and strong is not to decorate the leaves, but nurture the roots.

Similarly, the best way to make yourself better at anything is not to address the symptoms of the problem, but to make your own personal foundation stronger from the inside out.  Creativity is a necessary skill in the foundation of success. Work on making it better. The absolute best way to add to your creativity is to give yourself more options to choose from when thinking. Become a 24/7 learner. Learn anything and everything you can.

Listen to the world around you. Everyday conversation can be an eye opening experience. Read everything that you can get your hands on. Even if you do not like the material, it will usually offer up helpful ideas later that you might not otherwise have come up with. Be open to new experiences. There is a wealth of knowledge in trying new things.

Recruit Your Insecurities To Build Confidence

All of us have insecurities. Some more than others and some insecurities can be more debilitating than others, but they don’t have to be. Again, if you can water the roots of yourself and make your own personal foundation more solid, you will have less and less trouble making a way for yourself in your chosen field.

For example, take the common insecurity of not feeling qualified for the job. Now, obviously a 4 year is not usually qualified to drive a forklift, but this is not what we are talking about. We are talking about that overwhelming feeling of what did I get myself into when you are presented with a new, large, and extremely important task at work.

It is extremely normal to be nervous when presented with a new task, but the fear of not having what it takes and failing can be a self-fulfilling prophecy if you let it. Learn to look at things a little differently. Even if you fail, you will learn how to do it better the next time. Failure is a part of life and is one of the major ways we learn new things so that we are better qualified in the future. Don’t allow your insecurities to hold you back.

In the end, furthering any aspect in your life comes down to how strong your core self is. Revisit these tips often to help strengthen your own personal foundation.
